Community Driven Community Radio Pilot Project

Radio is the most widespread electronic communication device in the world and a unique means of reaching the world's poorest communities. Community radio in particular puts the tools of communication into the hands of communities for cultural expression, news and information, dialogue and development. Radio is also one of the most accessible media. Unlike print, it does not require literacy. It is also one of the media most amenable to traditional, oral forms of communication, helping to preserve both these forms and to provide spaces for the holders of these stories. As a radio receiver is available in almost all the household at the moment this becomes the cheapest mode of communication too.
