Alternative for India Development (AID) is a well established national level NGO that supports grassroots and community forums aimed towards strengthening the civil society. The organization has the vision to create a society without poverty to facilitate total empowerment of the poor and to work for an alternative development towards achieving basic education, health and livelihood improvement for all with gender and social equality.A new chapter opened in the history of Jharkhand with the broadcast of the first ever community radio program in the region on August 5th, 2001. With the aim to bring the poor closer to the corridors of power to address the problems of poverty, bad governance and lack of access to information, AID successfully harnessed the power of micro radio media by blending it with information and communication technology (ICT) to find new ways to solve old problems. The successful running of community radio programmes in different language and region are listed below:• Chala ho Goan Mein- Hindi radio programme aired from AIR FM, Daltonganj, Palamau. • Abua Disum Abua Raj- Radio programme in Mundari language from Ranchi AIR FM.• Aamader Awaz- Radio programme in Bengali and Santhali languages from Jamshedpur AIR FM. • Abua Hature Abua Raj- Radio programme in Ho language from Chaibasa AIR FM.• Apke Awaaz Hamari Prayas: Radio Ranchi programme in Hindi and Nagpuri, covering strategic issues and problem of the region, from Ranchi AIR FM.
