E-waste Flooding the Earth
Submitted by pritamsinha2007 on Sat, 06/20/2009 - 15:16An animation film depicting the growing hazards of electronic waste. The shot begins with blinking words on the screen which say: “DISK ERROR!” An irritating beep is playing on and off in time with the blinking. The ‘camera’ zooms out to reveal that the text is being displayed on a computer screen. The zoom out continues, moving behind and above a person sitting at the computer. As the person comes into view, they are reaching for the CD eject button. The zoom converts into a tracking motion, closing in on the hand as it takes out the CD, and then following the flight of the CD as it is tossed into a waste basket in the corner of the room. When the CD lands on the basket, the bin is already heaped over, even overflowing with electronic waste of various kinds. As the CD lands, it sets off a slight shake in the contents of the basket, which intensifies, along with a growing sound like distant water.
